Author: Groshan Fabiola

We can define two categories of anorexia, but it is known that these categories often overlap and also the lines between them become blurred. In both cases, the basic characteristic is that those persons are quite emaciated.

The two categories of anorexic people are: the first refers to those who are restrictive when it comes to eating. They do not eat everything they want and need. They are also exercising way too much because they want to loose weight my any means. The second category refers to those who try to keep their weight under control by purging. This means that they are vomiting and using laxatives after eating. Some vomit after they ate much food, other might vomit even after eating a candy.

Anorexic people are can not be categorized easily because they are moving from one category to another all the time. Some might even be categorized in both classes of anorexic persons as they have eating habits that are found in both categories.

Besides the loss of weight, anorexic persons have other symptoms regarding behavioral and emotional status too. Physical signs are present too. The loss of hair, brittle nails, fatigue, dry skin, lack of menstruation, and constipation are only some of the symptoms that appear in an anorexic person. Irregular heart beats and low blood pressure are frequently found in anorexia.

Some of the emotional and behavioral characteristics found in anorexia are: the rejection of food, the denial of hunger, the lack of any emotions, the lack of concentration and way to many exercises taken daily.

These signs of anorexia can not always be easily seen because anorexic people sometimes do all they can to cover up this symptoms.

Here are some tips in seeing if a friend of someone you care for suffers of anorexia: if you see that he or she is skipping meals and always has excuses for doing that you should open your eyes and look closely to the following moves of that person.

Sometimes you can see that they are eating only certain foods like mostly those that are low in fat and calories. They even have strange habits like cutting their food into tiny pieces and chewing it and after that spitting it out.

Some like to cook foods but they never eat from it they only cook it for others, and if they eat they are always weighting that food.

These anorexic persons are always complaining on how fat they are even though this is false and like to wear large and layered clothes. They are obsessed with their image and always look into mirrors.
