Treatment for Atopic Eczema

Unfortunately, there is no cure for atopic eczema found yet. The only treatment that exists for atopic eczema is to control and ameliorate the symptoms for atopic eczema.

The second most used atopic eczema treatment is with mild steroid creams. This type of eczema treatment is used because it can calm your skin very much and also suppress the body response to inflammation.
In case these eczema treatments do not have the expected response, there are other eczema treatments that your doctor can prescribe for you. Next on the list are strong steroid creams. This treatment for atopic eczema is only available with a prescription. Be very careful though not to keep the cream too long on your body, because it may thinner your skin. The best thing to do in this case, when using this kind of eczema prescription is to do regular check ups. In case of severe eczema, tablets of steroids are available. This kind of treatment for eczema is only used for a short period of time. Another severe eczema medication are immunosuppresants, which come in the form of tablets. However, this type of eczema treatment can have major
side effects, so it must not be taken for a long period of time. The best thing to do is consult your doctor and decide together with him/ her what eczema treatment is better for you.
Antibiotics are also another treatment for eczema, but only if the skin is infected. Because itching is a major problem when having an eczema, antihistamines are also prescribed. They do not make such a big difference in an eczema, but they can ease the itching and help you sleep better.
