How Would You Like To Eat To Lose Weight
Author: Ann Marier

Getting rid of unwanted extra pounds is never easy but many of us make is harder than it really is. Skipping meals and drastically cutting calories will yield temporary results but you can achieve long term weight loss if you choose a slower approach. Basically, you need to eat to lose weight.

I know you're probably thinking that eating is what added the extra pounds in the first place. However, the kinds of foods along with a lack of exercise are more of a source of trouble than the actual act of eating. When you eat to lose weight you will find that you can take in more food and feel satisfied throughout the day.

So how do you eat to lose weight? The first thing you want to do is slow down. You are more likely to overeat if you scarf your meals down too quickly. You have to give your stomach enough time to tell your brain that it is full. I know it sounds silly but it does take time to process this information.

Choose whole foods. When you eat to lose weight, you are best off picking foods that are not processed. The more stuff that is done to the food, the more fattening it is likely to be. Natural foods are best and they take a little longer to eat. Raw veggies and fruits have to be chewed well and this takes more time than ingesting a piece of cheesecake.

You should not only eat to lose weight but drink to drop pounds as well. You have probably heard about the eight glasses of water each day so I won't lecture. Drinking a nice, hot cup of tea can be as satisfying as a couple of cookies but it won't add the pounds.

It is important to remember that many beverages can work against your weight loss efforts. If you eat to lose weight but drink as if you don't have a care in the world, you probably won't see very good results. Instead of drinking a glass of apple juice, just drink the apple. The sugar content in the juice is really concentrated and it's almost like eating three or four apples.

In order to curb your appetite you might want to consider eating a handful of almonds about 20 minutes before your next meal. This is a great way to eat to lose weight because your brain is being told that you are receiving nutrients. Remember that you need to nourish your body in order to keep the pounds at bay.

I Want To Lose Weight Is Top Of The Wish List Of Many People
Author: Ann Marier

Just like most of the women I know, I want to lose weight. The desire is quite common among my friends and me that we decided to do something about it together. Instead of standing back and thinking about how much I want to lose wieght, I decided to enlist some help.

Using the buddy system is a great approach to diet and exercise. My friend and I used to meet for lunch or for happy hour. Now that I want to lose weight like the rest of the crew, we are now meeting for brisk walks and trips to the local gym. There are plenty of options out there and I didn't know about them until I decided that I want to lose wieght.

Having a good support system is crucial to our success. We work together to make sure that we keep a healthy pace during our walks. I know that when I want to lose weight that I have to keep my heart rate up for at least 20 minutes. When I walk alone I tend to stroll and lose the necessary stride.

There is also an appeal in the sense of competition among the group. Of the four of us, I think that I want to lose weight the most. However, I know that we are in a subtle competition that occasionally rears its ugly head in a good kind of way. Soon we will be having weigh-ins and maybe even prizes but for now losing the pounds is enough.

Meeting with friends over some cocktails is also really fun and on occasion I think that we should indulge in a night out on the town. I want to lose wieght so bad that I will probably offer to be designated driver during the special night out. This will save a lot of calories.

There are other things to consider when working towards a goal like this. I want to lose weight so bad that I am thinking about supplementing my diet and exercise with supplements to help things along. This can be the extra boost that will make the process easier.

The supplements come in many forms and choosing a certain brand might be a little difficult. I want to lose wieght enough to do some serious homework and explore my options. After all, we do have a subtle competition going. I know that the other ladies are already taking supplements.

What Detox And Cabbage Diet Is All About
Author: Low Jeremy

One of the new diet programs that are being introduced in the market right now is the detox diet. The name 'detox' is a shortened form of the word 'detoxification', which lies at the heart of the program.

The diet makes use of the body's natural system of neutralizing and eliminating the various toxins that the body takes in. As an internal protective system, the body converts any material that may seem harmful to the body into a chemical form that is less dangerous.

Toxins can take several forms depending on what is taken into the body. Examples of harmful toxins are external chemicals like pesticides and household cleaners that are accidentally ingested; food additives, drugs and other food materials that may affect the body in a bad way; and of course cigarettes. Some toxins come from the body such as ammonia, a chemical produced when proteins are broken down during digestion. Because of the ingrained system, all these toxins no longer stay in the body and are excreted and flushed out in the form of stools or urine.

Basically, the term detox diet is used in the treatment of people who have become dependent on drugs and alcohol; but now with the birth of various kinds of diets, the term is used to any diet that helps in detoxifying the body.

The diet itself focuses on taking in foods that provide vitamins, nutrients and other chemicals such as anti-oxidants that help the body purify itself. There is also much emphasis on lessening or reducing the chemicals that are being taken inside the body. This is why many people under detox diet prefer to eat organic food.

Another technique with the detox diet is the emphasis on high fibers and water to help the body get rid of the toxins. People undergoing detox diet will experience headache during the first few days. Some may also suffer from excessive diarrhea so it is important to watch out for dehydration. There is also a risk if constipation if not enough water is taken in.

Detox diet however is not for people who have anemia, diabetes and heart disease. It is also not recommended for women who are pregnant or those people who are suffering from kidney problems, liver disease, underweight issues and ulcer. People with low blood pressure, low immunity, hypothyroidism and epilepsy are also discouraged to go under a detox diet.

From the name itself, the cabbage soup diet is a program that involves the cabbage soup as the central figure. It may seem absurd at first and quite different from other diet programs such as the Atkins diet and the South Beach diet but it actually has a rationale.

The cabbage soup diet is based on the assumption that diets that contain high fiber but low in fat can help the body lose weight. The cabbage soup is usually made of cabbage, onions and tomatoes. The soup is supposed to fat-burning as it has a high fiber content. In fact, the more soup that you take in each day, the more calories you will burn and the more pounds you will lose. The taste will be bland so it has to be taken in with other foods.

Unlike other diet programs, there are no restrictions in the food that you take in as long as you drink the cabbage soup with every meal. From low calorie vegetables to potatoes and beef, you can eat anything you want. Of course, dieters under the program are encouraged to take in fruits and vegetables as well as unsweetened fruit juices.

One guideline, however, that must be strictly met is the fact that all meals should be broiled, baked or boiled. No fried meals for the duration of the diet. Another guideline is to avoid alcohol, bread and other carbonated drinks that hastens weight gain.

One downside to the cabbage soup diet is the fact that it not for the long term. It can only be done for a period of seven days. By the end of the week, the person can lose as much as 15 pounds depending of course on the meal that he or she has eaten during the program and how much you have adhered to the guidelines. Beyond the prescribed week, continuing the program can be dangerous to one's health as too much weight will already be lost.

Because of this, dieters often use the cabbage soup diet if they need to lose weight fast. In fact, most people use the program to get into shape before they enroll in a long term diet program. Some get into the cabbage soup diet program when they need to lose extra pounds for a special occasion.

The Benefits of Taking Fish Oil For Women
Author: Michael Byrd

Are there benefits of fish oil for women? Maybe you've noticed. Women are different than men. They're smarter than us, stronger than us, endure more than we can and smell better too.

But despite all the obvious differences, they still suffer from similar health problems. They get cancer, heart disease, diabetes, arthritis and depression too. The only thing we suffer more than a woman is PMS. (My wife said this was OK to say as long as I said it lovingly.)

How you handle these health problems is up to you. One way is to wait until you have some awful degenerative disease and then seek treatment (sounds like something a man would do). The other way is to do something about it before it becomes a problem. And if you choose the second method, then yes, there are healthy benefits of fish oil for women (and men!).

Every leading cause of death for a woman has two things in common. They're degenerative and preventable. We won't quibble over their ranking. After all, would it bother you if you had the second leading cause of death and not the first? Degenerative diseases, though preventable, are not a fashion accessory.

But there's one dietary accessory you'll want to have in your nutritional wardrobe. They just happen to be the most amazing form of prevention available to you. They are the omega 3 fatty acids in fish. More and more research confirms on a daily basis the power of these simple, natural nutrients.

Studies tell us that increasing your omega 3 intake can help prevent heart disease, strokes, cancer, diabetes, depression, Alzheimer's, PMS, memory loss, dry skin and much more.

One of the main reasons why omega 3 fatty acids are so universally beneficial is because they help the body decrease and regulate inflammation - the kind you can see and the kind you can't.

Recent research indicates that all degenerative diseases begin when the body's inflammatory cycle gets out of control. And the only way it can get out of control is when you're not getting enough omega 3s in your diet.

Scientists call it an "inverse relationship." But it's really just a simple equation. The more omega 3s you get, the less risk you'll have for degenerative diseases. And to keep things simple for the men who might be reading, the fewer omega 3s you get, the greater your risk of dying from some preventable illness becomes.

See how simple that is. All you have to do to get all the healthy benefits of fish oils for women is to eat more fish, specifically oily fish that live in cold waters. They include salmon, tuna, anchovies, sardines, herring and mackerel. Find some great recipes and you're all set.

Now, prove to us guys how much smarter you are by making a commitment to eat more fish on a regular basis. And if that's too hard for you, then you should supplement your diet with pure fish oil capsules from a reputable source.

The Cost Of Health Care Insurance Prohibits The Vulnerable From Receiving Proper Care
Author: Ann Marier

Though I have great health care insurance through my husband's employer, we are having a hard time finding some for our daughter. Because she is not legally our daughter yet, she's not allowed to be on our insurance policy. We are planning to adopt her in the near future, but until then, all of her medical expenses must come out of my pocket. I just heard a wonderful idea from our current president about how to help defer some of the cost of health care Insurance. I hope this initiative makes it through it becomes law, however I am weary as I am sure there are some hidden drawbacks involved.

This initiative about health care insurance offers a tax deduction for those who have pay for their own health insurance, or for those who have to contribute to what their employer pays. There will be a standard deduction for single or family when it comes time to file your taxes. If this initiative were law this year, I would be getting a refund on my taxes instead of having to pay in. However, even if it's not available yet, I hope I have it to look forward to the next year. Every little bit helps of course.

It is getting more and more expensive to have health care insurance for your family. The insurance we get to my husband's employer used to be completely free. Now there's a small amount taken out of each of his paychecks in order to pay the difference. Over the course of a year this really adds up. This is becoming more and more common around the country. Even though most of the costs of our health care insurance are provided by our employer, it has become so expensive that they can no longer shoulder the costs all on their own. I am grateful that we have it, and I am grateful that what we must pay is a relatively small amount. I realize that there are many others who do not have this luxury.

Many states have programs for health care insurance if you cannot afford on your own. You may not be able to get health care insurance for your entire family this way, but at the very least, you may be able to get sure children covered. This is perhaps the most important issue when it comes to health care insurance, and if this type of program is available in your state you should take advantage of it. Though we all hope that our children will remain healthy, it is always good to be prepared in case the worst might happen. The cost of one serious illnesses enough to break the average American family.

Individual Health Can Be Influenced By Your Lifestyle
Author: Ann Marier

Just fifty years ago, we weren't faced with ten different flus of notorious proportions. There was just "the flu". World travel has now made it possible for a dangerous flu from Hong Kong to be transported in a matter of hours to San Francisco. Today, there are conditions we'd never heard of until doctors decided it deserved a name and some bright chemist came up with a pill to get rid of the symptoms.

Does this new way of interpreting health strike a suspicious note in your mind? If so, that's probably good. In today's world, we need to take more responsibility for our individual health than might previously have been required. More and more people are beginning to realize that our individual health condition often belongs in our own hands.

There's a lot of individual health factors that we can control in very simple and effective ways, to prevent conditions and diseases, avoiding a visit to the doctor and yet another costly prescription with side effects we may not even want to think about, but must, for our own protection.

In the last couple of decades, we've come to realize that our diets play a big role in individual health and disease. We know consumption of fatty and fried foods can cause the cholesterol to soar or harden our arteries. We're aware of the many benefits of fresh fruits and vegetables, loaded with antioxidants and free radical scavengers, which can go along way towards staving off cancer, colds and digestive problems.

Cold water fish contain the now famous and beneficial omega-3 fatty acids, which are dubbed the "good" fats in nutrition circles. A couple of minutes thought on these few examples shows us we have a great deal of control over our individual health problems.

Then there are legitimate conditions we may have accumulated over the years, due to poor lifestyle habits, diet or simply genetically passed on as a vulnerability. Even then, we needn't rely on a pill to save the day. Taking responsibility for our own individual health concerns means we must do a little work ourselves, many times producing a very favorable result.

Let's say your cholesterol is high and your doctor gives you a prescription medicine to reduce the levels. However, after reading the literature accompanying that prescription, listing all the warnings about possible side effects, you're not so sure you want to consume this pill.

You do a little research on cholesterol and find that many clinical studies demonstrate that daily garlic intake will reduce the cholesterol levels by an equal amount in the same time frame, with no scary side effects. That's when you want to consult your doctor and talk this over. If you can get the same results from a food rather than a pill, why introduce a pill that may do you harm?

You'll find that by educating yourself, you can take charge of many individual health concerns and be hale and hearty.

Improve your Life Through Lasik Surgery
Author: Cathlen Evans

Visual problems can really be the cause of a person's depression. Those who have perfect vision can see the wonderful things that surround them right away, while those who are visually impaired need to rack their drawers for either their contacts or their glasses. Indeed, there is no sense of wonder or surprise upon waking up as you will only see a blur of various figures and colors.

Those who depend on their visual tools submit themselves to material slavery. It is like being tied to something one cannot most probably do without. Having to wear contacts is not like wearing a bikini at the beach—it is not optional.

Thus, activities for those who have poor visions are limited.

It is because of this that those with impaired eyesights also have virtually impaired lifestyles. Driving a vehicle without glasses or contacts can deem to be such a difficult, if not impossible, job. You can't go swimming with them, which will mean that you are definitely not going to enjoy the shores. And it's also not likely that you'd try to call out someone's name in a crowd or you could end up embarrassing yourself.

If you are really intent on unlatching bind with glasses-contacts dependency, then the only thing you should think about is LASIK surgery. Nowadays, since many can afford the services offered by the most recently innovated technology, LASIK surgery can be within easy reach as well. Eye expert Dr. Robert Selkin of the Selkin Laser Center in Nashville has state-of-the-art equipment aimed at treating vision defects and helping you achieve that perfect eyesight you've always been wanting.

What is LASIK surgery and how can you benefit from it? LASIK is a new surgical procedure that involves an intervention on the cornea to restore impaired vision. The word "surgery" brings the process such a negative impression, but actually, it will only take a short time and is not as painful as you probably initially believe. In fact, shortly after the surgery, you will be able to resume to your normal activities already. You won't even have to call in sick at work unless you want to.

Most are put off by LASIK treatments because of the cost. However, it is a relatively small amount when you think about the multitude of benefits you can gain from it both in the short and long term. If you cannot afford the whole amount, term payments are available. Just so you would know, Selkin Center has 0 percent downpayment and also 0 percent interest deals.

Losing Weight With The Glycemic Index Diet Plan
Author: Wesley Atkins

If you have diabetes or you need to lose weight the Glycemic Index Diet Plan might be just the solution you're looking for. This diet is based on a diet plan that was developed in the 1980's as a way for diabetics to better control their blood glucose levels and subsequently manager their diabetes.

It was discovered that the diet plan had a wonderful side effect; efficient weight loss. Since that time the Low GI Diet, as it is often referred to, has become quite popular with non-diabetics as well. Individuals who use the diet claim they are able to lose weight as well as retain more muscle. Many people report the diet helps them to shave off weight in critical areas as well, including the stomach.

Under the Glycemic Index Diet Plan, foods are divided into three categories based on how they rank on the glycemic index. The glycemic index ranks foods according to how quickly the body is able to digest them. Foods that are processed more quickly by the body rank higher on the Index. Foods that take longer to be digested by the body rank lower on the scale. The idea is to base your diet on foods that rank in the low to medium range by eating foods that rank high on the Index sparingly. Some of the low foods which are allowable on the Glycemic Index Diet Plan include broccoli, tomatoes, cauliflower and other fruits as well as whole grains. Legumes are also allowable. Some foods rank in the middle range, including bananas and apricots.

When dieters first start the eating plan they are in what is known as Phase One. Under this phase, dieters are encouraged to eat only foods which are low on the glycemic index in order to lose weight. These foods are low in calories and high in fiber which makes it easier to lose weight. Dieters should plan to be on the first phase of the diet for about three to six months depending on how much weight they want to lose. After that time period, the individual may then advance to the second phase, which is the weight loss maintenance phase.

In this phase, you may eat low as well as medium foods according to the glycemic index. It is important to understand that exercise is an important component in both phases of the diet plan in order for it to work effectively. The Glycemic Index Diet plan by itself is not a complete solution for weight loss. You must be dedicated to participating in an active and healthy lifestyle. It should also be understood that this is not a diet in the true sense of the word but rather a change in lifestyle.

If you abort the diet plan after losing weight and return to eating large amounts of highly processed and refined foods it is quite likely that you will regain weight, particularly if you are not exercising on a regular basis.

One of the major advantages of this diet plan is that it is not as restrictive as many other diet plans. For example, you can have some carbs on this diet as long as they are good carbs and they rank low on the glycemic index. In addition, it is perfectly okay for you to eat out. Once you have become familiar with which foods rank low on the index you can then usually find something on any menu which is acceptable according to the Low Glycemic Index Diet plan.

Vegetarians frequently find that many low carb diets do not work well for them because they place a strong emphasis on meat. With the Low Glycemic Index Diet plan there is no such problem because proteins from vegetables can replace meat.

With time and dedication the Low Glycemic Index Diet plan has proven to be quite effective at managing diabetes, promoting weight loss and encouraging a healthy lifestyle.

  Diagnosing Appendicitis in Children
Author: Groshan Fabiola

Appendicitis is an inflammatory disease of the intestinal annexes called appendix and occurs due to obstruction causing infection and an increased bacterial growth. About 20-30% of the appendicitis cases in children evolve with abdominal perforation of the inflamed appendix.

The most common symptom of appendicitis is pain in the right lower abdominal quadrant due to the anatomical localization. Additional symptoms are frequently nausea, vomiting, low fever and diarrhea or constipation according to case.

Appendicitis is commonly encountered in about 15% of the population and occurs mostly in the first two and last two decades of life. Every year, about 80000 Americans are diagnosed with appendicitis and about 50% of the children will have a medical history of appendicitis in their family. The appendix perforation occupies 30% of the cases and is mostly seen in children under the age of five.

A high percent of the cases of appendicitis are classical and can be diagnosed easily by history and a physical exam. Symptoms like pains in the right iliac fossa, vomiting, low fever, tenderness and rigidity of the abdominal area are usually certainty signs for an acute appendicitis. In case of more vague and unclear symptoms, the additional investigations like ultrasonography and computer tomography can be useful to establish a positive diagnose. No way of diagnose has an accuracy of 100% and in some cases the only option to make sure of appendicitis is present is surgical intervention.

The only possible cure of appendicitis is the removal of the infected appendix by surgical means; in case of perforation, the surgical intervention can only be performed after a few days of ant biotherapy to treat the clinical signs of inflammation spread to the whole abdomen and called peritonitis.

At the beginning of the operation, an anesthesiologist administrates the child a dose of sedatives and pain killers to induce the pediatric patient a pharmaceutical sleep. In classical interventions, a small incision is made in the right iliac fossa; if the surgical therapy is laparoscopic one, two smaller incisions are performed in different areas of the abdomen. Both methods have advantages and risks and the parents or caretakers must discuss and choose the most appropriate way with the surgeon.

The surgical intervention usually lasts less than one hour while the infected appendix is removed from the abdominal cavity and the infection fluids are washed out. In cases with further complications a drain is left inside the abdomen to continue draining the infection fluid out of the abdomen. After surgery, the child must stay in the hospital for about1-2 days in simple cases and 5-7 days in cases of perforation; painkillers and antibiotics are administered for avoiding complications. Oral food can be regained step by step in the first days after surgery.

Children will require a week at home to recuperate from surgery and about 2-3 weeks without sport activities. If complications like fever, excessive swelling in the incision area, bleedings or intense pains occurs, you must immediately call a doctor.

  Hospital Care for Anorexia Nervosa
Author: Groshan Fabiola

Family and caretakers of patients with Nervous Anorexia must always consider hospitalization as the most benefic way to save them from starving themselves. Although the patients will try to avoid hospitalization and look for other treatment options, we must not forget these options have frequently been tried before without any success.

As a patient in a psychiatric unit for persons with nervous eating problems, they will have an exact meal schedule and a certain weight target they must reach. For all progresses such as eating regulate meals without purging afterwards the patients will be rewarded. After completing the rehabilitation as an inpatient, Anorexia sufferers will be taught how to continue the treatment at home, also sustained by group therapy or even a support group. Without a proper care inside the hospital and then at home, the patient's progress tends to be much slower as these types of persons seem to have neither personal will nor strength to fight their disorder.

Patients will need to be supervised a few hours after every meal in order to prevent them from throwing up. The daily weight must be carefully monitored as well as the intake of fluids. The daily calorie value in the beginning of the cure must vary around about 1500-2000 and will increase progressively when the patient begins to eat and act properly. The daily number of meals for anorexics should be about six; regular meals can be substituted by intra venous nutrition or liquid food in case of patients with severe anorexia symptoms.

In hospital care, the doctors and caretakers must be careful not to overly insist on the importance of gaining weight, as the weight problem is only a physical symptom of the more complex eating disorder. Correcting the poor image of themselves and the low self-esteem are the primer major steps in confronting the nervous eating difficulties. Weight gain must be used only as a real objective in the main target which is correcting the psychological problem.

There are some additional therapy methods like certain medication that can be extremely helpful in decreasing the disease's symptoms. The intake of the medication in patients at the begin of the therapy must be carefully monitored as the vomiting may interfere and diminish the effect of the chemo. To avoid such problems, a relation of reciprocal trust must be established between patient and physician; the absence of honesty and trust will negatively influence the final results.

Obsessions, anxiety and agitation can all be managed and controlled by the intake of chlorpromazine. Also the recovery process will be fastened by antidepressants. Support groups are always necessary to sustain the will of the patient of getting better and prevent reoccurrence. Although very important, this therapy method is often overlooked by physicians.

Keep your Kids Healthy by Taking Care of What They Eat
Author: Groshan Fabiola

Due to the tempting foods which are produced nowadays our kids get to be overweight and even obese as time goes by. After that in the blood the level of cholesterol will increase and will cause a lot of problems to the children now or during adulthood.

All these inconvenients can be resolved if the child looses some weight by keeping an active lifestyle and a proper diet. As parents it is our responsibility to take care of them meaning that we must make sure that they eat healthy food, not junks and they understand why it is necessary to give up their old eating habits.

Children need an example in order to understand and follow a right diet. If you keep a healthy diet and so does the whole family then the child will surely adopt this diet too.

When cooking you must take care to prepare a variety of foods in order to achieve all the needed vitamins for your body.

For example at breakfast which is considered to be the most important meal of the day you can serve cereals and whole grain breads. Yoghurts and cheese are recommended along with fruits. Fruit juice is good but a whole fruit is better as it contains more fiber.

At lunch you can prepare a sandwich out of whole grain bread or rolls. Also make a soup and stew. Do not forget about the fresh fruit after the meal.

When preparing a sandwich be sure to use low fat meats, like chicken or turkey. Also add a salad, and fat free sour cream as a dressing. Another type of sandwich is that stuffed with vegetables, low fat cheese and chicken leftovers. A tuna salad is great. You can cut onion, green peppers, carrots and celery and add it along with low fat mayonnaise and then add the tuna. When preparing a turkey sandwich in order to make it tastier mix cranberry sauce and fat-free mayonnaise and add it to the sandwich. For those who miss childhood put peanut butter and old fruit jelly on two slices of bread. Rye bread can be served with low fat cheese and slices of ham along with honey mustard. You can always add tomato slices too all kinds of sandwiches in order to make them tastier.

Children love diversity in foods and love taking a snack between the meals. Try different combinations of fruits and vegetables and you will see you child will be happy. Try combining fruits like cranberries, strawberries, pineapple chunks and raisins into yoghurt. Another successful combination is apple slices with peanut butter or apple juice and bananas.

From the vegetables you can pick carrot sticks, backed potato with cheese, and celery stick with peanut butter.

All the products that you use must be fat free: the mayonnaise, the cheese and even the yoghurt.

As a desert you can serve frozen yoghurt with fruits, sorbet and sherbet and juice bars. Other attractions for the little ones are rice cookies, sunflower seeds, roasted peanuts, and low fat pita chips.

  Pregnancy and Hepatitis B
Author: Groshan Fabiola

There is a big question raised when thinking about hepatitis B: can infants risk to loose their immunoprophylaxis if breast feed by mothers that carry the hepatitis B virus? This is one of the most often asked question when new mothers with hepatitis B have children.

Well the answer is no. There is no risk for a mother with hepatitis B to breast feed his child. The infant will not suffer from any negative influences when the response of the anti hepatitis B is concerned. Many tests have been made concerning mothers that have hepatitis B virus and have to breast feed their new- born.
All the results have shown that there us no big difference when immunoprophylaxis failure is concerned in children that have been breast feed by their mothers which carry the hepatitis B virus and the babies that were feed by bottle. Another question asked was whether there was a bigger risk of transmitting hepatitis B to the infant if brestfeed by the mother that carry the hepatitis B virus. The answer was given after some studies made by doctors. If the infant is vaccinated against hepatitis B and taking into consideration hepatitis B globulin, the infant that is breast feed by his hepatitis B carrying mother is not at more risk of getting hepatitis B from her.

There is also the problem of infection with hepatitis B virus of the fetus. The answer is very simple. Even if the mother has the hepatitis B virus, the infection with hepatitis in the uterus may be stopped by injections . This method does not have any side- effects and can protect the fetus from hepatitis B virus.

Another matter that we must take into consideration when talking about hepatitis B is the vaccine. The question is can pregnant women get vaccinated against hepatitis B? And the answer is very satisfying, yes they can. This liver problem, hepatitis B in pregnancies can not be associated with an increased rate of abortion or congenital malformation. However, there is a matter to take into consideration if pregnant and having hepatitis B virus. If this hepatitis virus is aquired in your last trimester, your child might be born early. Another problem is that more than half of the women that contact hepatitis B virus in their last days of pregnancy are more than likely to transmit the hepatitis virus to their children.

Questions and Answers About Bird Flu(avian Influenza)
Author: Groshan Fabiola

Bird Flu is an infectious disease of birds that can also affect people. It can present mild or severe forms of illness. The only subtype that can cause severe illness to people is Influenza A /H5N1 virus, initially it affects chickens, ducks and other birds by the process of mutation they can become highly pathogenic. Because highly pathogenic viruses can survive for long periods in tissue, water and in the environment, especially when temperatures are low is transmitted very easily in chickens and other birds through direct contact with feces and secretions from infected birds, eggs, feed, water, cages equipment, vehicles and clothing. The virus is excreted orally and in feces 10 days if the bird survives. Domestic birds can get infected when they roam freely or share water supply with other birds. The virus may be transported from farm to farm with contaminated equipment, vehicles, feeds, cages, or clothing, especially shoes. Luckily, there is no evidence of human-to-human transmission and through cooked chicken meat. But particles of discharges with the bird avian flu inhaled in market, poultry, surfaces and aerosols are very dangerous.Avian influenza affects chickens and the poultry industry, recombined with the human influenza viruses form a totally new influenza virus to which people do not have protection that spreads in the population and that causes serious illness and death in humans.

Signs and symptoms of bird flu in chickens:
Infection determines many symptoms from mild illnesses to highly contagious and severe epidemics. Among them a decline in activity and in egg production, facial swelling and bluish-violet colored combs and wattles, diarrhea, hemorrhages, paralysis, sudden deaths.

Signs and symptoms of bird flu in humans are similar to other influenza viruses: sore throat and cough, fever, muscle weakness and/or pain with complications such as: severe viral pneumonia, respiratory distress syndrome, multi- organ failure.

How to make a differential diagnostic between avian influenza, pneumonia or any other respiratory illness?

A laboratory and epidemiologic confirmation of the bird flu infection is needed and details required such as patient had direct or indirect contact with sick chickens or other birds.Treatments of bird flu are antiviral drugs, but some of these drugs are expensive and supplies are limited.

To prevent recombination of avian with the human influenza virus: is recommended a vaccine used against circulating strains in humans to those exposed to bird flu. Even better is recommended the prevention: to cease importating of live chickens and other poultry products from countries affected with bird flu, avoid contact of poultry with wild birds, proper hand washing and cleaning and disinfection procedures in poultries. Report to authorities any unusual death or illness of chickens other birds or humans. The rest of us should: wash hands with soap and water before and after handling chicken meat. Cook chicken well, not to let chickens roam freely, do not place chickens, ducks and pigs together in one area. Local Government Officials should: apprehend illegal trading of poultry, not allowing chickens to roam freely, correctly informate the community, advise public not to catch, get near or keep in captivity wild birds.

Author: Groshan Fabiola

Autism is the most classical condition from the group of autism spectrum diseases, including the Asperger syndrome, the Rett syndrome, the Childhood disintegrative disorder and the pervasive developmental disorder. The most important and frequent characteristics of autism are impaired social interaction, verbal and nonverbal communication difficulties, repetitive actions, unusual interests and limited actions.

Male children have a four times more increased risk of developing autism than little girls. According to studies, a number of about 1-3 children in one thousand subjects are susceptible of developing autistic disorders.

The most important signs of autism can show different difficulty grades, from mild forms to severe cases. Autistic children have problems in interacting with other children or persons due to a disease triggered impaired social interaction ability.   Symptoms of Colorectal Cancer
Author: Groshan Fabiola

Doctors recommend going for check-ups from time to time after the age of 50, in order to detect early any possible presence of cancer. Colorectal presence gives symptoms after a few years since installation occurred, that is why screenings should be done regularly.

Sometimes patients suffering of colorectal cancer complain about being constipated. Constipation can occur due to the tumor which grows inside the colon and blocks partially or totally the flow of solid waste. So, defecating less often as before can be a sign that something is wrong inside the colon.

Sometimes people observe that their stool is much thinner than before. This can also be a sign that inside the colon or rectum is a tumor which began to grow. If the tumor grows it will partially obstruct the way the stool follows and so, the stool will have to remodelate in order to step over the tumor's barrier. Also, abdominal cramping and bloating can occur.

If the tumor bleeds, in the stool will appear red marks, this if the tumor is situated in the rectum.

If the tumor is situated at the end of the colon or in the rectum it might give you the feeling that you still have to go to the bathroom even if you just went. This is due to the fact that the tumor is attached to the "exit zone" and the body thinks there is some poop left to come out.

Because the tumor blocks the way out and prevents air from elimination, patients can get gassy quite often.

Sometimes colon cancer patients have nausea and even vomit but and this is another condition the tumor gives. Also, tiredness is present no matter how much you get to sleep possible because of anemia (the red blood calls can not carry sufficient oxygen to the body's cells). Anemia can be given by the tumors situated in the right side of the colon because they can bleed for a long period of time without being detected.

In most of the intestinal cancers, loosing weight is present. The loss of weight is made in a short period of time and even though for some people it might be considered a blessing, this is not a good thing, because it means that the tumor blocks the bowel somewhere inside the intestines.

These symptoms can be found in other diseases too but if you see them do contact a doctor for a check up especially if you are over 50 and your family history contains cases of colorectal cancer.

  Treatments for Eczema
Author: Groshan Fabiola

There are many people that suffer from eczema and the treatment they need for this condition, eczema is a special one. Nowadays many efforts are being done do discover eczema treatments or to cure other skin conditions, because the number of people that suffer from skin problems, like eczema is getting bigger by the second.

Some scientists have also discovered the gene which is responsible for dry skin, which immediately leads to an eczema. The same gene that leads to eczema is also responsible for asthma. This particular gene produces a protein called fillagrin, which helps the skin like a barrier. without it, your skin gets very dry and eczema develops. The people who are responsible for this discovery, that may lead to finding a better eczema cure, hope to do just that, instead of only treating the eczema symptoms. There is a desperate serch for an eczema treatment, because at this point the only available eczema treatment are with ointments or creams.
Anti inflammatory drugs can also be taken in cases of an eczema. Those treatments for eczema only lower the symptoms and make you feel better. What scientists want is to find a cure for eczema, instead of trying only to treat the eczema symptoms.

Fillagrin, this protein such crucial in stopping eczema, has the role to keep viruses and bacteria out of your skin, while it also keeps water in, thus preventing the drying of your skin and the forming of an eczema. One thing is for sure, thought, a new, better eczema treatment will be found.

More studies have shown that almost ten percent of all people that live in Europe have a genetical mutation that turns off the protein that helps us in not developing an eczema.

Losing Weight With The Low Glycemic Index Diet
Author: Wesley Atkins

The low glycemic index diet is based on a theory that eating foods which score lower on the glycemic index will help you to not only lose weight but also manage diabetes if you suffer from that disease and possibly stave off other related health conditions such as heart disease.

The glycemic index came out in the 1980's originally as a way to help diabetics better manage their diets. The index was designed to rank foods according to how fast they cause the blood sugar levels in the body to rise within a few hours of eating them. Because the pancreas must release insulin in order to help return excess levels of blood glucose, or blood sugar, to normal it was conceived that the ranking of foods could help diabetics better gauge the effects specific foods would have on their bodies.

If they were able to know which foods would raise their blood sugar levels they would then be able to avoid or eat little of those foods and therefore keep their blood sugar levels in check. After awhile it was discovered that the low glycemic index diet could also help individuals to lose weight as well. Today, it has become one of the most popular diets around and many famous diets, including the South Beach diet are based on the idea of a low glycemic index diet.

According to the low glycemic index diet foods are ranked on a scale of 0 to 110. Foods that rank with a score of 55 or lower on the scale are considered to be low on the glycemic index. Those foods which rank from 56 to 69 fall in the moderate category while those foods that are scored at 70 or above are considered to be 'high' glycemic index foods. High GI foods are believed to raise blood sugar levels the highest after consuming them and should therefore be avoided are eaten in small amounts.

Foods which are allowed on the low glycemic index diet include nuts and seds, yogurt, milk, vegetables, fruits, etc. The types of foods which commonly rank highest on the glycemic index include caffeinated beverages such as coffee and sodas, desserts and candy.

Beyond managing weight loss and blood sugar levels for the purpose of diabetes the low glycemic index diet also has many other advantages as well such as an increased alertness and energy level. Individuals who find they are frequently tired and lethargic in the afternoon may notice they no longer feel that way when on the low glycemic index diet. This is because it has been shown that diets which are high in high carbohydrates frequently result in a lack of energy in the afternoon.

Individuals on the diet have also noticed thy tend to feel less stressed out on this diet and also have a general improvement in their mood. Unlike other diets the body is also frequently able to retain more muscle with the low glycemic index diet. This is especially important when you are dieting and trying to lose weight. Many people find that while on this diet their bodies begin to feel trimmer even before they have actually lost a significant amount of weight. This is due to the body storing fat more efficiently, resulting in a retention of muscle over fat. Since muscle weighs more than fat you may feel trimmer and notice your clothes fitting looser without losing as much weight as you might expect.

Finally, individuals who have found they have difficulty losing weight in the stomach area are often delighted with the results of the low glycemic diet because it enables them to tone of their tummy area more quickly than with other diets.

Cold Sores: 7 Tips To Fight The Beast
Author: Linda Brown

Do you have a cold sore today? Would you know if you did? The cold sore, sometimes referred to as a fever blister, is a tiny but painful blister that occurs on the face -- usually in the region of the mouth, lips, and nose.

When a cold sore first appears, it is a tiny pimple-like skin infection. It gradually develops into larger blister-like sore, filled with fluid and very painful.

When the blister ruptures, the appearance of the cold sore becomes more yellow and dry -- like a crusted-over wound. Cold sores tend to appear in conjunction with colds or fever. They can be spread from one individual to another by means of direct skin-to-skin contact.

Cold sores tend to accompany the common cold, and other communicable diseases. These are the sort of infections that give you a fever. Another symptom associated with the cold sore is swollen lymph nodes of the neck. Other viruses trigger the cold sore virus to re-awaken from its hiding places deep in your body.

Cold sores can last anywhere from one week to several weeks, depending on the other infections within your body. The cause of the cold sore is the herpes simplex virus, the same virus that causes genital herpes, and zoster or shingles. This virus is highly communicable and is dangerous in small children.

Here are a few tips on fighting a painful cold sore:

1. Get plenty of rest. Your body needs time to fight the infections. If you don't, your cold sore could get worse and become a more serious infection.

2. Maintain a proper diet. Eat fresh vegetables and drink plenty of orange juice. Vegetables and fresh orange juice are rich in vitamin C, which helps strengthen your body's immune system. Soup is good if your cold sore is making it difficult for you to eat. You need plenty of food for your body to fight off the infection. Soup is easier to eat and swallow than other kinds of foods, so it helps you get the nutrition you need.

3. Eat garlic. Were you aware that garlic is an excellent antibiotic? It enhances your body's immune system, thus protecting you from harmful viruses and bacteria. You can add crushed garlic to soup or tea, but be aware that raw garlic is more effective than cooked garlic. If the smell of garlic bothers you, you can try taking garlic tablets, available at your local drugstore.

4. Make a drink from ginger, lemon juice, and honey. These are well known sources of the phytochemicals that make up antioxidants and vitamin C. The positive effects of these on the immune system is well documented.

5. Take echinacea. It is somewhat effective in treating cold sores. It is very popular for this as it removes the negative effects that the cold sore has on your body. It is also helpful in treating strep throat, colds, and even cuts and wounds.

6. Always wear clothing appropriate to the weather. While cold weather can't give you a cold, it can weaken your immune system, making you vulnerable to viruses you come across.

7. Stay away from sweets. Foods like cake, chocolate, and candy can cause coughing. Drug use, smoking, and coffee are also known to damage the immune system.

As soon as you notice that you have a cold sore, immediately take steps (like the ones mentioned here) to get rid of it. Don't wait for it to get worse. And keep in mind that a healthy body is not just dependant on the foods you eat -- you must also get rid of unhealthy habits and get plenty of exercise.

Eating Out While On The Low Gi Diet
Author: Wesley Atkins

One of the best advantages of the Low GI Diet is that it is very eating out friendly. Unlike many diets that can be complicated to figure out when you are eating out the Low GI Diet is quite adaptable to dining out once you have familiarized yourself with foods that are low on the glycemic index and which ones are high and should therefore be avoided. Below are some tips that will help guide you in menu selections the next time you dine out.

The first goal when perusing any menu at any restaurant is to make sure that your selections will keep the glycemic index low. That means that you want to avoid, or only eat sparing amounts of foods that are high glycemic index. This includes just about any kind of potato. Whether it's mashed or baked you should either avoid it altogether or eat only a small amount. Other foods that are high GI and should be limited or avoided include highly refined carbohydrates such as most breads. It's also important to think about your drink selection. Ideally, it's best to opt for water, perhaps with a slice of lemon. Caffeinated beverages as well as sugary drinks such as soda are not good selections. And, of course, you should forego or go light on the desserts.

Instead opt for choices such as vegetables. Today many restaurants offer vegetable based main dishes which make excellent selections. Alternately, instead of ordering a starchy side dish such as rice or potatoes, considering replacing it with an extra vegetable. If you feel you really must top off your meal with something sweet consider healthy alternatives such as fruit desserts and avoid those that are high in sugar, fat and highly refined flour.

There is also a second goal of the Low GI Diet; however, and that is to watch your saturated fat content. This can easily find its way into your meal if you do not keep a watchful eye. To do this you will need to avoid foods or eat only small amounts of foods that are friend or even roasted. Avoid high fat foods such as butter and mayonnaise as well as sauces that are butter based and cheese. Try to select only lean cuts of meats.

At first glance it might would seem that some restaurants lend themselves to making it difficult to follow the Low GI Diet. While you might need to give it a bit more creative thought it is possible to follow the diet at any restaurant. For example, many people might think it would be difficult to stick with the diet plan when dining out at an Italian restaurant. This isn't true. Instead of a lot of bread, opt for salads with a balsamic vinegar dressing. Avoid cream based sauces and choose tomato based sauces instead. Tomatoes are very low on the glycemic index so this makes dishes with a tomato base a good choice. Look for lean grilled meat selections as well as fish choices. Finally, don't feel as though you have to avoid pasta altogether. Simply choose low GI pastas such as linguine, macaroni and fettuccine.

Chinese food is often considered to be difficult to allow into the frame of the Low GI diet because of the requirement to avoid rice. Once again; however, with a few substitutions you can enjoy a nice meal out at a Chinese restaurant and still stick with the diet. Instead of eating rice choose noodle based dishes, like chow mein, as long as they are not fried. Steamed and stir-fried dishes along with lean proteins can help to round out the meal.

Top Tips For Following The Low GI Diet
Author: Wesley Atkins

The Low GI Diet is one of the most popular diets currently around. While it was originally developed in the 1980's as a way to help diabetes patients control their disease it was found that it also provided numerous other benefits including the promotion of weight loss.

The idea behind the diet is to fill your diet with foods that are low on the glycemic index rather than foods that are high on the index. Foods which should be avoided or limited include high processed and refined foods. Of course, this includes most breads and many desserts such as pies and cakes.

Compared to many other diets the Low GI Diet is actually much easier to follow; however, there are some tips that can help you to make the process simpler and less complicated.

While many people get started with the Low GI Diet believing they must only select foods that are low on the GI scale there is another important component that can help you to achieve better results. Avoiding and limiting foods that high in saturated fats can help you to lose weight as well as reduce your chance of developing heart disease. When you consume foods that are too high in saturated fats you can become less responsive to insulin and that can translate into forcing your body to produce more insulin. As your body feels forced to produce more insulin you are at risk for developing diabetes as well as weight.

It's also a good idea to fill your diet with at least seven servings of fruits and vegetables each day. While other diets restrict the consumption of many fruits and even some vegetables because they may be considered to be high carb foods, on the Low GI Diet you can enjoy plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables as long as they are low on the glycemic index. Eating lots of fruits and vegetables also have other advantages as well such as reducing the risk of developing many cancers as well as other life threatening conditions such as heart disease. Additionally, research suggests that eating different fruits and vegetables can help to boost antioxidants which boost your immune system and help you to fight disease. Ideally, it's best to aim for a wide variety of fruit and vegetables to achieve the best results.

Under the Low GI Diet you can easily select cereals and breads as long as they are comprised of wholegrains. These foods rank low on the glycemic index because whole grain foods tend to be digested slower by the body. This is a good way to also boost your intake of fiber, which can result in lowering your cholesterol level as well as changes of heart disease and cancer.

It's also a good idea to try and replace a small number of large quantity meals with more small meals during the day. This is because some research indicates that even low GI foods can have a tendency to raise the body's blood sugar levels to unhealthy levels when they are consumed in large quantities at one time. By eating several smaller meals on a regular basis you can avoid this problem. One way to do this is to bring small healthy, low GI snacks with you to much on during the day.

Finally, don't forget to consume a wide variety of foods for the best healthy benefits. Remember that you do not have to totally avoid foods that are high on the glycemic index; simply eat them sparingly in smaller quantities so they do not have such an impact on your blood sugar.

Along with regular exercise and an otherwise healthy and active lifestyle, the Low GI Diet can help you to lose the weight you want and enjoy a healthier life.

Advantages Of The Low Glycemic Index Diet
Author: Wesley Atkins

The Low Glycemic Index Diet has become quite popular because it provides numerous advantages. While the diet was first developed as a way for individuals who with diabetes to better manage their condition it quickly evolved into a weight to lose weight and even as a lifestyle change to effectively maintain weight loss.

One of the main reasons why people switch to a low GI diet is that they want to lose weight and this diet has proven to be effective in helping people to lose weight. There are also many other advantages; however. For example, research indicates that diets that are based on low GI foods can also help to reduce the risk of developing many health conditions such as diabetes and cancer as well as heart disease. Some research suggests that you can even cut the risk of developing these diseases in half by following the Low Glycemic Index Diet. Another major benefit is the ability to lower blood pressure as well as lower cholesterol levels.

Additionally, individuals who have followed the diet have been found to have their body's ability to fight disease boosted. This is accomplished by strengthening the immune system, providing numerous other overall health benefits.

The Low Glycemic Index Diet is able to bring about these benefits because it is based on consuming foods that are relatively low on the glycemic index and restriction consumption or avoiding foods that are high on the index. The glycemic index itself ranks foods according to how fast the body is able to digest them. Those foods which are digest more slowly by the body and therefore do not raise the body's blood sugar levels as high rank low on the scale and are acceptable. Other foods are digested slightly more quickly and dieters are therefore advised to proceed with caution regarding those foods; however, they are not restricted. These foods rank from 56 to 69 on the glycemic index. The final category consists of foods that are digested very quickly by the body, rapidly raising the body's blood sugar levels. These foods score between 70 and 110 on the glycemic index. For the most part, these foods consist of highly processed and refined foods such as sugary foods.

Most vegetables, as long as they are not starchy vegetables, are quite allowable on the Low Glycemic Index Diet. Fruits are also encouraged, unlike may other diets which warn against the consumption of too much fruit because they are considered to be high in natural sugars.

While the advantages of this diet are quite obvious it should be understood that this is not a diet which can be followed for a short period of time and then abandoned with the expectation of keeping the weight off. One of the important considerations of this diet is that it is more of a lifestyle change rather than a short term diet. Individuals following the diet can expect to remain in the first phase of the diet for three to six months depending on how much weight they wish to lose. A

fter that, they can move on to the second phase of the diet for weight maintenance purposes. Moderate exercise is required of both phases of the Low Glycemic Index Diet in order to assure weight loss and continued weight loss maintenance. Failure to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle can result in failure to lose weight or gaining weight back.

If you're ready to take advantage of a healthier lifestyle, reduce your chance of developing serious health conditions and lose weigh the Low Glycemic Index Diet may be just right for you.

Grilled Salmon

Ingredients
Baby spinach leaves, lightly rinsed
2 oz watercress
16 cherry tomatoes, halved
4 salmon fillets, trimmed and boned
1 tablespoon olive oil
4 cloves garlic, halved
balsamic vinegar, for drizzling
sea salt and freshly ground black pepper

Cannellini Bean Sauce
14 oz can cannellini beans, drained and rinsed
1 garlic clove, crushed
1½ tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
2 tablespoons chopped fresh thyme
2 teaspoons olive oil
sea salt and freshly ground black pepper

Directions

First, start by preparing the cannelloni bean sauce. Place the beans, lemon juice, thyme, oil, garlic and 2 tbsp of water in the blender. May add salt and pepper to taste. Blend until the mixture has formed a smooth sauce. You may need to add a bit more water. Move the mixture to a saucepan and heat it on low heat for 5 minutes. Stir frequently until the mixture is very hot.

While the mixture is heating, cook the salmon. Start by placing the garlic in a non-stick frying pan and heating it for about 1-2 minutes. Next, add the salmon and cook for another 5 to 8 minutes. Be sure to turn the salmon halfway through the cooking process.

Next, drizzle the spinach leaves with some balsamic vinegar and toss them well. Place the cannellinni sauce on each plate along with a few additional spinach leaves. Top everything with the salmon. You may wish to add some olive oil for additional seasoning. Serve alongside the salad immediately.

Don't forget to top your meal off with this luscious and creamy low GI diet recipe for yummy ice cream. It takes only 15 minutes to prepare and is ready to eat after another 2 hours in the freezer.

Mango Orange Ice Cream Dessert

2 large mangoes, peeled and stoned
2 tablespoons finely grated
unwaxed orange zest
3 tablespoons low-fat natural yoghurt
3 tablespoons low-fat
crème fraîche
2 squares plain chocolate, grated

Directions

Begin by scooping out the fleshy part of the fruit from the oranges, but making sure you have left the skins of the oranges intact. Place the flesh of the mangos and the oranges in the blender along with the orange zest, crème fraiche and yogurt. Blend the mixture until smooth; may take a few minutes. Next, spoon the blended mixture into a freezer safe container. You may need to stir the mixture from time to time to break up any ice crystals that have formed. This dessert can be served in a bowl or you may choose to spoon it back into the orange halves for an elegant presentation. If you choose to serve it in the orange halves, you may need to return it back to the freezer for another 30 minutes or so. Garnish with grated chocolate for an even more decadent dessert.

Break it to Me Gently: How to Break Up With Someone as Painlessly Array as Possible
Author: Jesse Hughs

To put it bluntlyIm going to be frank, nobody likes being dumped and few of us take pleasure in being the "dumper" either. The end of any relationship, often inspite of its length, will be a traumatic time for both parties involved where your emotions run rampant. Understanding, compassion, patience and especially, honesty, are the key factors in any successful break up, if there even is such a thing. You must learn how to let go of any relationship that you no longer wish to take part in, while preserving your dignity along with theirs.

Do Unto Others
Put the shoe on the other foot, if you will, for just a moment and think of how you'd want to be treated if you in fact were the "dumpee" in this scenario instead. Respect the person's privacy after ending the relationship as well; anything told to you in confidence should remain that way whether you're together or not. After all, you'd want it to work the same in reverse.

Avoid trite clichs
What could be worse than the "It wasn't you, it was me" statement? No one believes that, and frankly it's insulting and really makes no sense. Since you aren't breaking up with yourself, how could it not have had something to do with the other person? Avoid using these lines as easy ways out since you know they don't really fool anyone. At least put forth some minimal effort and offer some sort of an explanation if the break-up is sudden.

Be as Honest as the Day is Long
This isn't a trite clich; but rather it's a clich that offers words to live by on a multitude of levels. Lies are insidious in that they must be fed by more even lies in order to be successful. Unless you plan on carrying around a notebook to keep track of all your fibs, white lies and down right untruths, it's best to just live your life honestly, which is after all, the best policy.

Don't Become a Puppeteer
Worse than silly clichs and excuses are when you're strung along like a puppet for months or even years on end while the other person decides on how to end it. Imagine how they'd feel knowing you wanted it over for a while now but just didn't have the guts or the gumption to actually do it? Drawing things out only create drama and even more hurt feelings. Quick and painless is always better than a slow, agonizing end to a relationship that's long been over.

Avoidance isn't the Answer
There are some people, cowards, if you will, who choose to end a relationship by doing nothing at all. Going out of their way to avoid the other person, not returning phone calls or e-mails and simply dropping from sight, are all common methods of ending a relationship by taking the easy way out. This leaves a host of unanswered questions for the other party, not to mention absolutely no closure whatsoever.

The above information is supplied of course with the assumption that the relationship is deserving of at least some of the common courtesies that are outlined here. We all know of people who has done something terrible or who isnt worth the effort of striving for an amicable break-up. In either case it's you who will feel better if you handle the situation with as much honesty, dignity and maturity as possible.

Keep Your Circadian Rhythm Happy And Sleep Tight
Author: Jeff Foster

If you have ever experienced the effects of jet lag, or felt very tired after working rotating shifts during the week, then what you have technically experienced is your body's circadian rhythm has been adversely affected.

The word circadian comes from the Latin words 'circa' and 'diem' which translated into English, means about a day. But as far as your body is concerned, one day simply refers to a 24-hour period.

Circadian, although generally associated with the sleep patterns of us humans, also has a direct influence on our blood pressure, our body temperature and our body's production of hormones. Working together these internal monitors tell your body several things; such as when it is time to sleep, when it's time to wake up, and what your moods will be at any given time.

Biological rhythm is an important aspect of nature as a whole. For instance, the Earth completes a rotation every 24-hours and that completes what we know as one day... and each and every year the seasons they come and the seasons they go.

As you can well imagine... and have probably witnessed in one form or another, the circadian rhythm plays a vital role in the lives of animals as well. As just one example, one would have to look no further than the annual natural rhythm of the migration of countless species of birds every year.

When it comes to your sleeping-awake cycle, two primary environmental factors come into play: temperature and light. Even stimuli such as the sound of your alarm clock, and what and when you have eaten can also affect your Circadian rhythm. In women, their menstrual cycles are also a natural rhythm.

Internally, it is the part of your brain called the hypothalamus that directly influences your circadian rhythm. More specifically, the two large clusters of neurons situated on either side of the brain called the Suprachiasmatic nuclei or SCN is considered the body's master clock.

The SCN works in conjunction with other genes in your body to help your body keep track of time. It is with the stimulation and/or release of different chemicals, hormones and neurotransmitters that your body knows when it is time to go to sleep and time to wake up... when it's time to eat and more.

When it comes to your sleep, this is a simplistic overview of how the circadian rhythm works.

At the first sign of daylight, the body begins to produce hormones and neurotransmitters including serotonin and cortisol. These hormones assist your body to transition into an awakened state by slightly raising your body temperature and your blood pressure. In contrast, as daylight begins to fade, your body begins to release melatonin, which is the primary signal to the body to initiate the process of lowering blood pressure and to preparing itself for sleeping.

When the body's circadian rhythm is in balance, the proper timing and release of these important chemicals, hormones and neurotransmitters is achieved.

In contrast, when your body's circadian rhythm is out of whack this timing and release is just that. In fact, a prolonged imbalance can and often does lead to the onset of a number of sleep disorders and emotional disturbances.

So there is something to be said for being stuck in a routine... at least it would seem then that a big part being healthy and happy is all about keeping your circadian rhythm happy and not confused.

Save A Life - Know These Less Common Asthma Triggers
Author: Abigail Franks

If you've spent any time around an allergy or asthma sufferer, you're probably aware of some of the most common things that can trigger or cause an inflammation of the lungs airwaves are respiratory passages. These more common asthma and allergy triggers include:

Dust and Dust Mites.
Pets, Animals, and Pet Dander
Cockroaches and Bug Infestations
Certain Pollens and Natural Substances
Mold
And Some Air Pollutants

These are considered allergy related triggers that can cause an allergic reaction are asthma attack. Less common but just as difficult to live with our non-allergic type triggers and include things like exercise.

Exercising places additional demands on many bodily systems including the lungs and respiratory system. Vigorous exercise can quickly over expand the air delivery system passageways and cause an attack. Care should be taken to limit the type of exercise done.

Changes in the weather, but especially cold they are can trigger asthma symptoms quickly. Once again, if you suffer from a sensitive breathing system that's already compromised by asthma, dealing with extremely cold air can cause problems. This can be limited by breathing through a scarf to warm the air before it enters your lungs.

Strong odors have been linked to asthma symptoms, and even chronic bronchitis. Strong odors don't need to be foul-smelling to be a problem however. Strong air fresheners are perfumes can quickly trigger an asthma attack. If you are living with someone with asthma, you are already aware of checking the odors of many household products.

It's possible to limit exposure to strong odors by simply adding personal care products to your list of chemicals that need monitored for their strong odor. Limiting the use and exposure to common glues, adhesives and other chemicals typically used around the house and stored mainly in the garage can also lower the possibility of an asthma or allergy related attack.

Intense emotions and stress have also been associated with triggering an attack. This is especially true of people who have not yet developed a stable treatment plan to limit exposure to other more common triggers, or use an established medicinal treatment regimen.

Common sense is a big factor in limiting the exposure of allergy and asthma sufferers to the triggers that can cause an attack. It's only through consistent vigilance in the use of an established treatment plan, can someone suffering with allergies or asthma hope to have a relatively normal life

  Beating Stress
Author: Jeff Foster

When we talk about curing one's stress, it is no doubt it would be impossible to cure the stress by eliminating all happenstance of stress from one's life. Life just wouldn't allow that. The idea is to practice long and short term strategies in one's live to minimize stress and the effects of it.

Unfortunately many individuals that find themselves under stress tend to let build up and ignore it for far long. People many times let job or career needs and goals as the reason or feel their current situation as unchangeable. Life just happens many will say, however, no form of ill-effect is inevitable, nor is it necessary or wise to passively accept one.

The first step to successfully managing the stresses of life is always to increase one's awareness in a couple of directions - quite simply outwardly and inwardly.

Be conscious and in touch with that of your internal state and learn to evaluate it as realistically as is possible. Be pragmatic and objective about the external circumstances that affect each day. When you are confronted with one of life's legitimate worrisome or stressful situations, reacting with concern and a degree of stress is normal and healthy. However, unreasonable fear and negatively obsessing are not.

It sounds oh so simple but it is the truth... take a moment to breath - literally. Learn to take a deep breath and give yourself a chance to gather your thoughts when a stressful situation occurs.

Stress has the tendency to cause tension, usually muscle tension. Neck muscles will sometimes stiffen and breathing will often become shallower. When you catch you body beginning to react as such, make a conscious effort to take a moment for composure. Make yourself physically loosen up and relax your muscles... and by all means, take a deep breath or two.

No need to overdo the strategy. You don't have to break out into some yoga routine or go into some Zen like state and don't start hyperventilating. Relax the neck and chest muscles... a slow deep breath or two is often enough to break the tension.

These types of suggestions are effective primarily for acute stress - which is the type that is produced by an isolated event and lasts a short time. For chronic stress however (that which results from ongoing circumstances and unending self circumstance) additional techniques and strategies are needed.

Sometimes an incredibly simple solution such as a brisk walk can be helpful. You might be quite pleasantly surprised how a consistent rush of fresh air and sunshine can be relaxing. Let's also never forget that getting moderate amount exercise or physical activity goes a long way in relieving many of the accompanying physical symptoms of stress.

Diverting your focus from any given stress agent can also quite an effective strategy. Many times just losing yourself in some relaxing music can be very helpful.

Take time to laugh. Laughter is an excellent medicine in combating one's stress. Go see a silly comedy. Not only will the laughter do you good but so will the time away from your stress be beneficial.

Take the time to engage in something you truly like to do such as a creative activity or a hobby. This is especially true if the activity is accompanied by some physical activity.

Whatever you do, don't let the stress get the better of you by letting it build up. Find a friend and take the time to 'vent'... purge the stress. The cautionary not with this strategy is not to turn the venting session into a negative breeding ground that will only build momentum for the stress. In other words, a good airing is beneficial, but too many times it's an excuse to obsess over the problem. If you feel like you need to talk with someone, by all means get together with someone, but do not seek out the type of person that will only reinforce and perpetuate the negative mental environment.

Be mindful that these are all techniques to help relieve symptoms, they don't address the underlying causes.
